Leatherhead Flood Meeting
"Home and Community Resilience"

How to mitigate Floods

Tuesday 29th April 2014
7.00 – 9.00 pm

at Leatherhead Methodist Church, Church Road, KT22 8AY

(Free parking behind Parish Hall, KT22 8BD)

We are very fortunate to have a speaker from the National Flood Forum charity – Heather Shepherd – a sympathetic and knowledgeable expert. She is coming from Shropshire to share her experiences of being flooded several times and what can be done to mitigate further flooding. The talk will be on “Home and Community Resilience”, giving an independent view on insurance issues and flood protection products, the Repair and Renew Grant, Flood Re, as well as how to set up a local Flood Action Group.

Her presentation will be followed by a Question and Answer session. The meeting will be hosted by Tim Hall from Surrey County Council.

All are welcome.  Please forward these details to anyone who may find it useful.

Mole Valley's Wellbeing Centre Open Day

Dear parish councils and residents’ associations

A week of fun, free activities will take place from 28 April to 2 May at Mole Valley District Council’s Fairfield Centre in Leatherhead. As part this, on Thursday 1 May from 10am to 2pm there is a chance to find out about Mole Valley’s developing Wellbeing Centre, based at the Fairfield Centre.

The Wellbeing Centre will be a hub for easily-accessible information and advice for older residents, particularly those in the early stages of dementia or prior to diagnosis. Information will also be available for carers.

MVDC is working with its partners Surrey County Council, the Alzheimer’s Society, Age UK and the NHS to provide a weekly timetable of sessions which will promote wellbeing and independent living.

I was wondering if you would mind helping to spread the word about the Wellbeing Centre Open Day, perhaps by distributing the attached flyers. (They print two A5s on one A4 sheet.)  Or, if you are unable to print them, I’d be happy to send you a few copies.

Kind regards
Sally
