LRA Publicity & Marketing - Roundabout Sponsorship

In a continuation of the discussion on Publicity, I propose the following:

A number of local traffic islands (roundabouts) are sponsored by local businesses. The LRA should also consider this also. A simple sign with the logo and the web address would suffice. Currently the M25 J9 (Chessington side) has no sponsorship.

Could the Committee officer with Highways portfolio look into this? I suspect SCC Highways would be the first port of call.

Comments welcome.

  1. Very good idea - we must look into how much this costs etc with a view to definitely doing this. Another idea could be to rent one of the advert boards above the L'head Post Office - afterall the queue is normally so long, people can't help but see it.

  3. The Leatherhead library has a large noticeboard. Could someone ask in there next time they make a visit ?

  4. Response from LRA Chairman:

hank you for this idea. Until our membership is considerably larger, I don't think this is one we can afford. By the time we have found insurance, printing costs for publicity, newsletters and administration, affiliation to the Civic Trust and room hire, there will be very little left of £2 per household per annum, which in most cases is actually £1.66, as most members are choosing the £5 for three years option.

I am currently pressing for a dedicated notice board (or two) where we ourselves can control the frequency of news items and our activities. People coming into the town are unlikely to be Leatherhead Residents and I think at present our priority should be focusing on reaching people who will actually become members. There is also a large proportion of the population who do not have computers.

I like your idea of high visibility vests. I may be able to get one or two from the Swan Centre Manager, as we use them for the Town Festivities Events. I have one. They cost £8.49 each if you buy three. (Viking) +vat? Then there is the cost of additional lettering. So again expensive, but good advertising for different places and events.
